Common questions

When did the RBA last cut rates?

The RBA cut the cash rate by 25 basis points to 3.60% with effect from Wednesday 13 August 2025.

Why does the RBA change the cash rate?

To keep inflation between 2 and 3% and the labour market at full employment. Raising the cash rate makes borrowing dearer and slows spending, which eases inflation; cutting it does the opposite. The rate tracker follows both sides of that mandate, and the interest rate forecast shows where markets expect the rate to go next.
